Erik Austin Deerly

Erik Austin Deerly works as a music composer and media artist, creating soundtracks and for film, dance, and video. He also authors interactive audio/video work for web, performance, and installation. He is Publishing Editor of Burning Word Literary Magazine and occasionally writes poetry and op-eds for amusement. Erik works primarily out of his Chicago studio, Tonemeister Experimental Audio/Video (TEA-V).

His work has been seen and heard world-wide and currently includes ten full-length music releases, four video shorts, a full-length independent film soundtrack, three collaborative dance scores, and two multi-screen video/audio installations. His work has earned a Webby nomination (1999), two Addy Awards (1988 & 1989), and a South by Southwest National Interactive Design Award (2002, first place).

Erik holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago and a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Northern Illinois University.
